Sound Healing – Gong Bath – Meditation
Dr. Khalsa offers classes, events, and workshops combining Kundalini Yoga and Meditation and gong meditation (i.e., sound bath) as a form of program outreach to the general public in order to increase awareness and understanding of gong meditation. There are many names to describe this experience in English including gong bath, gong meditation, gong wash, sound healing, sound bath, Klangbad (German), baño de sonido (Spanish), bain sonore (French), klankbad (Dutch), bagno sonoro (Italian). Generally, participants relax comfortably clothed lying down, reclining, or seated while the practitioner creates a soundscape using a variety of sound healing tools such as: gongs, singing bowls, crystal bowls, didgeridoo, bells, voice, and recorded music. While meditative in nature, gong meditation is not a focused meditative practice.
Gong Meditation in a Mental Health Setting
Dr. Khalsa comes from a Kundalini Yoga background and his classes, events, and workshops have reflected this. He is gradually transitioning from this Kundalini Yoga-based model towards more of a mental health focus. As more research literature and data become available, this will inform his outreach offerings. If you work in a treatment center or other mental health facility and would be interested to have Dr. Khalsa come and play his gongs in a group setting for your clients, please reach out via email to start the process.
Dr. Khalsa is transitioning to a special event model. Interested venues can contract with Gong Tones to host an event for a flat, non-refundable $250 fee. The venue, since it has a stake in the event, is more motivated to fill the space, leaving Dr. Khalsa to focus on hosting the event while the venue is responsible for marketing, pricing, ticketing, etc. Interested venues are invited to reach out via email to start the process.
