SEEKING DISSERTATION RESEARCH SUBJECTS!
A doctoral candidate in clinical psychology is seeking research subjects to participate in a dissertation study in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from Sofia University in Palo Alto, California. Participation consists of an online meeting with the researcher via Zoom at the start of the study which should last between 30-45 minutes, and an additional Zoom meeting two weeks later which will also last approximately 30-45 minutes. Participants will join the meetings from their home or other location of their choosing (so long as they will be undisturbed for the duration of the meeting). The researcher will ship the research equipment to the participant along with instructions for setup and configuration along with a pre-paid FedEx return envelope.
Participants will be required to download and install two apps on their smart phone or tablet device (a Bluetooth-enabled device is required to participate from one’s home or other remote location). During the Zoom sessions, the researcher will assist participants in verifying that the apps are correctly configured and then guide them in fitting themselves with a headset for measuring brainwaves and a clip-on device for recording heart rate. After confirming proper installation and configuration of the equipment, the researcher will collect data measuring participants’ level of anxiety using written surveys, brainwave activity (EEG), and heart rate (HRV). In the two weeks in between, participants will be instructed to either: (a) listen to an 11-minute recording each day in a place of their choosing using a link provided by the researcher or (b) go about their normal daily routine.
